One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. It’s an alarming stat, and one that motivated Susan G. Komen of Greater Kansas City to look for a radical new way to get more women to know the risks and symptoms of breast cancer and get screened. That’s where hippo came in.
We created “Connected for the Cure” – a virtual reality experience that placed users in a breast cancer survivor’s story as they relived what it felt like the day they were told they had cancer. Using Oculus Rift goggles and headphones, the VR experience gave users a designed sensory experience unlike any other – an environment where they shared the survivor’s personal thoughts and how they faced the challenge of fighting back.
The experience was designed with a traveling collapsible nine-section banner that welcomed the users to the booth and captured the spirit of the brand.
